Going Meatless!

Although many area diners have given up meat for Lent, the vegetarian customers at Mr. G’s Pizzeria & Wings enjoy delicious meatless entrees all year long.

Although Mr. G’s Pizzeria and Wings is regionally famous for its New York-style, thin-crust pizzas that must be folded under the weight of fresh, meaty toppings, more and more customers opt for something different this time of year.

For the next few weeks, many area families have given up meat for Lent. And the result is a run on Mr. G’s popular non-meat pasta entrées and—on Fridays—his fish specials. So what does a famous pizza man know about fish?

A lot.

Seafood Entrées
Every Friday, Mr. G’s Pizzeria and Wings features an over-the-top, all-you-can-eat fish fry, featuring delicious beer-battered cod, hushpuppies, big, thick golden french fries, and fresh cole slaw—for just $6.99. And remember, that’s all-you-can-eat. It’s one of the best dining values in Northeast Ohio.

And back on the menu this Lenten season are three affordable specials very different from traditional cod—Pan-seared Tilapia with Linguini Florentine, Fried Breaded Perch and Lobster Ravioli.

The Tilapia features filets seasoned with secret spices and served over spinach Alio Olio. The $12.99 price includes a crisp house salad and fresh bread.

The Fried Perch entrée is a generous portion of breaded and fried perch filets served with your choice of spinach ravioli seasoned with garlic and butter or pierogies sautéed in freshly chopped onions. Either way, it’s just $10.99.
Or choose the rich Lobster Ravioli featuring a creamy Alfredo sauce with more than a hint of garlic, $13.99.

Going Meatless!
Of course, you don’t have to wait until Friday to enjoy Mr. G’s completely guilt-free. The menu is filled with delicious meatless entrées. “We have so many vegetarian customers that many entrees that began as Lenten specials are now on the menu year round,” Mark explains.

Mouthwatering meatless menu items include Spinach & Cheese Manicotti, served with traditional marinara sauce, cover in cheese and baked. The price is $12.50 and includes the same fresh house salad and bread.

Or try the Eggplant Parmesan. This top-seller throughout the year features hand-breaded eggplant “fried until golden” and served over pasta with classic marinara sauce and melted cheese, $11.49.

Inspired by the sea (but not of the sea), the Mr. G’s Stuffed Shells entrée boasts cooked shells stuffed with fresh ricotta cheese then smothered in marinara and mozzarella, $12.50. Mrs. G’s Famous Gnocchi are tender potatoes dumplings covered with a homemade basil cream sauce, $11.99.

You may also choose the Baked Cheese Ravioli; it’s not on the menu, but Mrs. G. promises to make it for anyone who asks. And the family’s famous pizzas—featuring their signature sweet sauce and homemade crusts—are available with cheese and many fresh veggies.

If you haven’t given up meat for Lent (or for good), Mr. G’s offers a veritable smorgasbord of entrées made with meatballs, veal, and chicken, plus a host of meaty sandwiches and salads, award-winning Buffalo wings, and all-star pizza toppings like ham, bacon, ground beef, sausage, and, of course—pepperoni.

All dishes are available for delivery, take-out, and off-premise catering events from graduation parties to First Communion celebrations.
